Horatio Spafford

Horacio Spafford (1828-1888) was writer of one of the most beloved hymns of the church.  With this hymn comes one of the most heartrending stories in the annals of hymnody.

“It Is Well with My Soul”
The UM Hymnal, No. 377

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say,
It is well, it is well with my soul.
